Homework: Introduction

Most economists would agree that due to the credit crunch, global markets are facing potential collapse (Stiglitz, 2008; Monbiot, 2007). As we know, our current recession began in the USA where banks got into the habit of granting mortgages to lenders unable to pay them back. This created a liquidity crisis in the country which banks and government were unable to resolve, and soon these economic difficulties spread to the rest of the world (BBC News, 2008). This effect is bad news for employment as Barclays is to cut at least 2,100 jobs globally across its investment banking and wealth management businesses (BBC News, 2009). So unemployed dramatically decreased their expenditure. In this essay, I will argue that we have to radically assess the 20th Century philosophy of free trade and globalisation due to the failures we've experienced recently in global markets. I will begin by looking at how this philosophy was based on an erroneous logic and then go on to describe the ways in which it has set us back with regard to financial efficiency and growth. I will then go on to discuss the ways in which I think this current crisis will affect future research in my subject area International Banking and Finance.

Globalisation lecture

Today Steve gave a very interesting lecture on GLOBALISATION. He mentioned how it happened and how it affected to economic. The UK faced recession for the first time in 1930. Nearly eighty years later, we are struggling in economic downturn. As a consequence many people lost their jobs, shortage of money and money’s loss of value. Moreover, most banks found the financial turmoil because they did not have enough money to boost business. The subprime crisis began in USA two years ago, across Europe to Asia. It is negatively affected like contagion. Finally, globalisation effects many aspects, especially trade , finance, and production.

Computer applications in accounting combine the knowledge of computer software programs and accounting principles. Accountants help to ensure that the firms are run efficiently, keep records accurately, and taxes paid properly and on time. They analyze and control financial information for various entities. Many years ago, majority of global companies managed business’s finances by using pencil, paper, or spreadsheets that can cause for mistakes. Nowadays, Computer applications play a great part of accounting field. Using accounting software, it is simple to send data and information to a tax consultant or an outsource service through email. For small businesses this saves significant time and money. Moreover, it can assist the companies to forecast their current and future business strategies. They can compare their past and current data in varied reports, graphs and use these data for planning and forecasting purposes. In my opinion, this subject is a new area in my country because most accountants comprehend solely in term of accounting and financing. This is due to choosing this subject and study in London Metropolitan University.

Frankfurt Chrismas Market,Birmingham

The city of Birmingham,which is twinned with Frankfurt in Germany,has been the host to the largest authentic outdoor Chrismas market outside Germany and Austria. Tourists find original gifts such as candles,glasswork,texitle and lacework.The markets have become more and more popular in the UK with similar in Germany for example in Leed, York, Lincoln, Manchester and Glasgow.

We discussed about future events and organised a school trip to a Christmas Market in Birmingham.
